When planning your Halloween and winter travel, don’t forget to savor this day’s fun before it’s gone.

Autumn is now ripe. It’s a great weekend to rake leaves and curl up with an interesting book and a  warm drink. Here are seven activities you can do this weekend, including watching monarch butterflies and organizing trick-or-treaters.

Try using fallen leaves.

Do you see beautiful fall foliage outside your door? Before raking and packaging, consider other uses for the leaves. They will make a good mulch for your lawn or garden. Or, if you have more leaves left on the tree than on the ground, you can cut off a bunch and take them indoors to display for longer.

Plan a winter trip.

The chill in the air will remind you to book that winter vacation you’ve been thinking about. Accommodation in popular destinations fills up early for holiday travel, so it’s a  good idea to book early.

Not planning a big trip? Instead, plan a fun weekend getaway with a calendar and a glass of warm cider.

Get inspired with our new design.

Peruse the shelves of your local bookstore and take home a  new book for your coffee table. Looking for a recommendation? is perfect for curling up on a  chilly fall afternoon.

Add warm, cozy layers and blinking lights.

Add some fall warmth and coziness to your living room with candles, super-soft blankets, and fluffy pillows. Place a thick blanket on the bed, turn on the twinkling lights, and place a bowl of apples and nuts in the shell. It doesn’t take much effort and your house will soon feel like it’s falling apart.

Help storm victims.

Hearing news reports about natural disasters can make people who were not affected feel powerless to help. But the truth is that any help, even a small amount, is greatly needed and appreciated. If you decide to donate money, make sure you are donating to a legitimate relief organization.

Say hello to the migrating monarchs.

Every fall, monarch butterflies return to the same  overwintering sites. Monarch butterflies from the eastern seaboard of the United States migrate to  Mexico, while those west of the Rockies return to the California coast. This month, those following migratory routes may be able to spot monarchs migrating to warmer climates.

Get ready for Halloween.

Sweet corn? Fake spider web? Check and confirm. If you plan on handing out candy or hosting a party on Halloween night, this weekend is a great time to stock up on supplies.
